It's the beginning of July and that means new releases from Doodle Pantry. Laurie has some of the cutest winter weather images ever this month. I just love making winter/Christmas cards when the temperatures are pushing 100+ degrees here in Texas! It really does cool me off a bit.
I know it's the 4th of July here in the good ol' USA, so I used red, white and blue on my card for you traditionalists out there. :-) The pre-colored image and sentiment are from the Snowball Ants set from Doodle Pantry. Laurie has already merged 3 images together to create this adorable snowball fight scene so I merged in the sentiment as well - talk about quick and easy!
I paired the image with red cardstock from JoAnn's, SU brocade blue card stock and some very heavy white cardstock from Papertrey Ink. I started out using my Georgia-Pacific white cardstock from WalMart for the card base but quickly realized that it wasn't strong enough for this type of stand-up card (see the side view photo). Also on this card I used the Cuttlebug snowflakes embossing folder, an EK border punch and Really Reasonable Ribbon from this month's ribbon club. Yolanda's card and sketch from the OWH/OSH bloghop were my inspiration for the layout (see sketch below).

Wonderful design...these would be great and quick to make for Christmas, thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteLove this tent topper. It is such a perfect layout for showcasing this fun image. Gorgeous design with fabulous details!
ReplyDeleteFab creativity on this card and I just love the red, white and blue motif - this is just so charming with those snowball ants.
ReplyDeleteLove this card, wonderful take on that sketch and the ant topper 'tops' it off perfectly!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card Allison! Colors are great. I like how you embossed the blue. Cute image! Thanks for the reminder for Doodle Pantry. Thought I might try to do that one.
ReplyDeleteCute, cute card! Love it! The colors are wonderful and I love the design of it. Yes, sometimes that GP paper just won't do! I love the heavier cardstock and once I've used up all my GP I may make a permanent switch to the heavier stuff just not sure yet, which one. Don't want to spend and arm and leg for it! I have my Doodle Pantry freebie digi downloaded and WILL get it done this month! Ha, ha. :) Again your card is wonderfully made and a very cute Christmas card in the red, white and blue!
ReplyDeleteSooooo cute Allison!!! Snowball fight, with this heat wave, that sounds pretty fun right now. Have a great day.
