This month's OWH Design Bootcamp class was called Anyway You Slice It and dealt with composition and the rule of thirds. Here's my card which you will see and learn more about on April 4, but I needed to post it in March for the Bootcamp Challenge! I made this card for the Pattern Play class at Online Card Classes. I saw someone else's idea to make an overlay with the rule of thirds and thought that was pure genius, especially for someone as OCD as I am. So, of course, I had to make my own. I actually completed this card and THEN put the overlay on top of it. I thought it was interesting that I did pretty well. Maybe next time I'll put the overlay on the card BEFORE I glue everything down! :-)
Love this Allison! Your pattern papers look fabulous together and I love the banner and overall layout of the card! Well Done!!

Great mix of colors! Very striking! Like Sandy I like the banner and I like the way you did the sentiment.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job combing these patterns Allison! I love that overlay idea and think it's a great, little handy helper to keep around when you're in need of a quick guide. Your focal point is definitely close enough to the "sweet spot" in the lower right of the grid to see the Rule of Thirds at work here. Thanks for joining in the March Boorcamp! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a very pretty card and I like the layering....would love to try the sketch. I'm not understand the 1/3 rule and the black lines so I guess I had better go to your links to understand...haha
