Stamp Club Cards - August

This month at Stamp Club with Christi Beck my Stampin' Up! demonstrator we made these two really cute cards.  I have LOTS of birthdays coming up in September (including mine!) and thought this birthday card would be masculine enough to give to my high school-aged nephew.  The Christmas card was really easy to make - the stamp set has a matching die set that makes cutting out the mug and steam as easy as pie!  Hmmmm, if I didn't already have this year's Christmas cards started, I might have had to buy this set.  LOL

Doodle Pantry - Saddle Up

Our vacation this year was to the famous Chincoteague Pony Penning Week. We go nearly every summer to Chincoteague to visit my mom and step-dad, but this was the first time we attended Pony Penning Week and all of the festivities. We had a blast, but one story in particular made it a VERY memorable vacation for my 9-year-old daughter. We attended the Pony Show at the Chincoteague Pony Centre as we do every visit, but because it was Pony Penning Week, they had a special guest in the show: Minnow the Painting Pony. Yes, this pony paints his own works of art. During the show, he painted a picture that was auctioned off. My daughter still had about $80 left from the money she had brought (all collected from Daddy's pocket change all year long!) and wanted to bid. The bidding began and she was doing great, but then it got to her "threshold" of how much money she had, and I gave her the signal to stop bidding. This wonderful woman sitting next to me that we had chatted with earlier began bidding all of a sudden. The bid was going higher until she finally announced to everyone, "That little girl is going to get the painting no matter what it takes!" Well, needless to say, she won the painting for my daughter. Kaylie was on top of the world! The kindness of strangers is an amazing thing to witness and affirms that there are LOTS of "good" people in this world.  This card was made to thank Candy K. of Ohio for the generosity and kindness she showed my daughter.

This card uses the Saddle Up set from Doodle Pantry.  The sentiment is also from a Doodle Pantry set, but I don't remember which one!  I used ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon and cardstock from Stampin' Up.  I am also entering this card in the August SFYTT challenge at iheart2stamp.com.

Here's a photo of Kaylie, Candy, Minnow the Painting Horse and the masterpiece!

Doodle Pantry - BBQ Birdie

Last weekend we were invited to an impromptu BBQ with my husband's family.  I was really excited because his cousin from Savannah, GA whom I have never met was going to be there along with other family I haven't seen in years!  We had a lot of fun and hope to get together again at Thanksgiving perhaps.

I made this thank you card for the host and hostess using the Doodle Pantry BBQ Birdie set that was released in May.  I love Laurie's pre-colored images best but was really proud of how my coloring turned out on this outline image!  Everyone at the BBQ ooh'ed and ahh'ed over the card, and I discovered that the hostess' mom also makes cards for Operation Write Home - small world, isn't it?!

Don't forget about all the fun happening at Doodle Pantry:
1. New releases including new PDF card kits to make fast and easy Christmas cards
2. School-related digi grab bag items marked down 30% through August 15
3. Freebie of the month available BEFORE playing the challenge through August 15
4. Two chances to win challenges this month through August 24
5. Free with purchase image through August 24

Card Supplies:

Doodle Pantry - School Birdie

If you have kids, I'll bet you are counting down the days until school starts again like I am!  Some of you lucky gals have kids that start on August 13.  I have to wait a week later until my sweet girl starts the 4th grade.  Don't get me wrong - I love my child - but don't you find it difficult to "entertain" your child all summer long?!  I did my best by requiring her to read and work on math on the computer for 30 minutes each, but that left a lot of hours in the day which she spent playing a computer video game called Spore.  So, I'm looking forward to someone else doing a better job of challenging my child all day every day!!!  LOL

Why all the talk about school?  Because I've got an adorable school image from Doodle Pantry called School Birdie on my card today!  And, to ease the pain of those last few weeks with your child(ren) in the house all day, Laurie is offering a digi grab bag of school-related images that are marked 30% off until August 15 - what a great deal!

Hurry over to the blog to collect your free image and the chance to enter into two Doodle Pantry challenges this month.  This is the last month Laurie will be giving you a free image BEFORE you play the challenge - so don't miss out!  You can play along until August 24, but the free image will only be available until August 15.

patterned paper, pre-colored image and sentiment - Doodle Pantry School Birdie set

SU Christmas in July - Day 3

Thanks for joining me for my SU Christmas in July weekend - I saved the best for last!  This was my favorite card of the 3 different designs and probably the easiest to mass produce if you send out handmade Christmas cards.  I need to get busy because I only have 12 out of 60 Christmas cards made so far - YIKES!  I'm looking forward to school starting and maybe having a tiny bit more free time to craft.

Which of the 3 cards is your favorite?

Everything on this card is from Stampin' Up.

SU Christmas in July - Day 2

Thanks for coming back for day 2 of my SU Christmas in July weekend!  I really like the looks of today's card, but I don't think it's great for mass production.  All the little polka dots were driving me batty and making me see cross-eyed - LOL!  You could use up a lot of scraps of paper with this card design though - that's always a plus!

Everything on this card is from Stampin' Up!

SU Christmas in July - Day 1

This post is going to kick off a weekend of Stampin' Up Christmas in July cards!  On the very last day of July we got together to make a total of 10 cards in 3 different designs.  Today I am posting my heat embossed card - if you know me, then you know I *ONLY* heat emboss when my SU demonstrator Christi has it on a card.  I have to admit though that this time I was fascinated watching the embossing powder turn - it was like watching a wave come onshore!  As cool as it was, I still don't have the guts to try it on my own...maybe one day, Christi.

Everything on this card is SU except for the gold ribbon which came from my stash.

Floating Goat?! - Doodle Pantry

I just love all of the Doodle Pantry critters that Laurie creates, and this goat is the latest cute addition to the gang.  When I saw the "punny" sentiment, I knew I just had to use it.  Funny thing was I had to explain the pun to my 9-year-old daughter.  Apparently, she's never heard the expression "whatever floats your boat!"

This entire set is free with purchase at the Doodle Pantry store from August 1-24.  You can visit the store to see all of the other new releases as well - some back to school, some Christmas and if you want to make quick Christmas cards this year, check out Laurie's PDF card kits!  Don't forget the latest Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge begins today at noon, too!  I just love the first of the month - so many exciting new things.
