Gracias

This We R Memory Keepers paper has a funny story behind it.  I bought it at one of the retreats I attend with Cat's Creations Scrapbooks.  It is what we fondly refer to as "elephant dung," because if she put elephant dung out on the table we would ooh and aah over it and buy it!  Being Cinco de Mayo, I had to have it.  So I bought a huge 12 x 12 pad of it and then decided to host a back-to-school fiesta for my daughter so that I could use the paper for a scrapbook layout.  Hhhhmmm, wouldn't you have a party and THEN buy paper for your photos?  Oh no, I'm a paper lover - I do it the other way around!  How many of you have "staged" photos of your kids to "match" paper you have loved and bought?!

So, after just one scrapbook layout, I had LOTS of paper left.  I saw this SU! Gracias stamp was retiring and thought it would be cute with the paper for some Operation Write Home cards so I bought it.  Recently, I've been on a Scrap Wrangling kick - decided to wrangle some of the Fiesta paper scraps and came up with these cards for OWH.

I still have TONS of 12 x 12 paper left in this collection.  What would you do with it?!

  1. I love them all but I think the card with the pinatas is most clever to go with that sentiment. That would be a hard sheet of paper for me to figure out how to use.

I once had some little girls come over to have a valentine tea party with my pre school grandaughter just so I could scrapbook it with pretty paper. Goodness, that granddaughter will be 20 on Monday. The scrapbooking days are behind me.

  2. "Elephant dung" is hilarious and totally understood. I love that paper. The flowered one is my favorite. It is fun and colorful. I couldn't figure out why it related to Cinco de Mayo until the third card LOL.

  6. LOL, Party after the Paper... I love that!! I can definitely say I would have bought this pad too... i particularly like the 'quilted' pattern in the last card and thought the Gracias sentiment is perfect for them I think they could be used for Birthday cards or a fun hello, or thinking of you card too.

  7. Nice CAS cards, Allison. I bought the 6x6 stack because it was only $2. I think I made two cards from it and I've since abandoned it: http://kathrynscards.blogspot.com/search?q=fiesta Perhaps I'll make it a point to make this week's cards from this stack. Thanks for the push to use up the unloved part of the stash!

  10. I'll admit I'm also guilty of staging photos AND EVENTS to go with scrapbook paper. I think this paper is so fun and bright and all your cards look great!
